No. People seek therapy for many different reasons. You may be experiencing a specific concern, going through a difficult period, facing a major life transition, or simply wanting to better understand yourself.
The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and understand what brings you to therapy. Your therapist may ask about your concerns, experiences, history, and goals. You do not have to share everything at once.
You do not need to have a diagnosis or a clear explanation before coming to therapy. Sometimes, knowing that you are struggling is enough reason to seek support.
Psychotherapy is a confidential process, subject to applicable professional, ethical, and legal limitations. Your therapist can explain confidentiality and its limits at the beginning of the therapeutic process.
We will do our best to help you find a therapist who may be a good fit for your needs and preferences.
Doc Gail offers onsite therapy at the ILAW center in Miriam College Katipunan Avenue, Loyola Heights, Quezon City. To schedule a session, kindly email the ILAW center (Email: ILAW-GA-psychservices@mc.edu.ph).
Simply reach out. You do not need to know exactly what to say.
You can begin with:
"Hi, I would like to inquire about therapy.”
That is enough.
